5 essential packaging tips

Right-sized box

Use a box that fits your item snugly. Too much space means items shift; too tight risks crushing. Cushion gaps with filler material.

Moisture protection

Use plastic bags or wrap for items that could be damaged by moisture. Sealants and waterproof tape help.

Weight distribution

Heavy items go at the bottom, lighter on top. Distribute weight evenly to prevent tipping.

Seal with care

Use strong packing tape (at least 2" wide) in a six‑strip pattern (H‑taping). Avoid duct tape or masking tape.

Label clearly

Place labels on top, not over seams. Use clear pouches for addresses. Remove old labels.

Fragile markings

Use "FRAGILE" stickers on all sides for delicate items. Indicate "THIS SIDE UP" when orientation matters.

Recommended packaging materials

Bubble wrap

Cushioning for fragile items. Use 2‑3 layers.

Packing paper

Fill voids, wrap individual items. Avoid newspaper (ink may transfer).

Foam peanuts

Excellent for void fill. Use anti‑static for electronics.

Double-wall boxes

For heavy items >20kg. Extra strength.

Do's
✓ Use a new, sturdy box
Reused boxes may be weakened. If reusing, remove old labels and reinforce corners.
✓ Cushion all sides
Items should not touch the box walls. Minimum 2 inches of cushioning material.
✓ Seal with pressure-sensitive tape
Apply at least three strips on top and bottom (H‑tap).
✓ Include a duplicate label inside
If the outer label is damaged, we can still identify your package.
Don'ts
✗ Don't use string, rope, or twine
These can snag in sorting equipment and tear labels.
✗ Don't overpack or underpack
Boxes bulging or loose items both increase damage risk.
✗ Don't use masking or duct tape
They don't hold securely during transit.
✗ Don't write directly on the box
Use labels or clear pouches — writing may smudge or be misread.

Special items handling

Electronics
Use anti‑static bubble wrap, original box if possible. Remove batteries.
Liquids
Seal tightly, place in zip‑lock bag, use absorbent material around.
Artwork / mirrors
Use corner protectors, "glass" labels, and rigid cardboard sandwich.
